Life at Lang is characterized by the unique combination of hard work and personal autonomy. Our academic programs are reading and writing-intensive and grounded in the scholarly development of critical thinking. But our open curriculum gives you the freedom to explore what is relevant to you. You select from a number of course options to fulfill the few requirements outside your major: first-year writing-intensives, an advising seminar/workshop, and two university lecture courses—you chart your own academic path. You can take courses ranging from Avant-garde Poetry to Zone Infrastructure: Histories of Finance, Globalization, and Territory as well as explore the offerings at Parsons School of Design, the New School for Social Research, and Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy. At Lang, your intellectual questions and passions shape your academic journey.
