    New York City plays a starring role in the Mannes experience. On any given day or night, our students are performing in orchestras, operas, chamber music groups, and ensembles like MACE and taking advantage of our intensive interning program. We help facilitate collaborations with the world’s best artists, industry professionals, and leading cultural organizations throughout the city. The flow of ideas, real-world experiences, and rigorous learning combine to give students an invaluable edge in the professional world and the career that lies ahead. 

    Students and Alumni

    Mannes and the Center for Student Success - Careers make every effort to provide students and alumni with current information about the opportunities and challenges they will encounter in the music world and offers practical assistance to help them launch successful careers.


    • One-on-one career counseling (including assessments MBTI and Strong Interest)
    • Résumé, curriculum vitae, cover letter, headshots, bios, and publicity materials reviews
    • Help with launching ensembles and entrepreneurial projects
    • Practice/mock interview sessions
    • Posting of internships, off-campus full-time and part-time jobs, local jobs, and temporary positions
    • Information about graduate school; effective career strategies; producing recording projects; developing websites and press kits; finding, negotiating, and contracting performance opportunities; approaching music teaching jobs; and music licensing
    • Workshops, panels, networking events, and career/internship fairs


    • Village—Careers: An online career services management system that gives you the ability to schedule career counseling appointments, access job and internship opportunities, and manage your applications. There is also a calendar of workshops, fairs, and events that is updated regularly.


    Career Services, Center for Student Success, connects employers with New School students and alumni seeking internships and part-time and full-time employment. Whatever position you are trying to fill, the best way to get the word out to New School students and alumni is to set up an account and post your opportunities on Village—Careers.  You can also use this tool to sign up for New School Internship/Career Fairs and our On-Campus Recruiting program.

This will help you find a suitable student for your position. A member of the Career Services, Center for Student Success staff will contact you after we review the information you provide.
