Parsons Paris

  • Imagine a Modern Atelier

We've reimagined the atelier as an intimate cross-disciplinary learning setting that fosters your growth. Nurtured by a dynamic creative community, you collaborate closely with faculty, peers, and invited guests. Like our historic building at 45 rue Saint-Roch, the ground-floor gallery recalls the first atelier that Parsons established in the heart of Paris in 1921. The gallery provides special opportunities to exhibit student work and hold events exploring critical thinking and making in the city. Here student curators from our MA History of Design and Curatorial Studies program interpret the work of peers in Design and Technology programs who are pioneering the digital 21st century. Fashion Design and Strategic Design and Management students explore sustainability, the sharing economy, and entrepreneurship together. Guest artists and designers engage the public in a year-round program of exhibitions, lectures, and workshops. Along the way, you gain hands-on experience in skills including gallery management and curatorial practice while personalizing your learning to a rare degree. Visit the Parsons Paris blog for the gallery archives, and the News & Events page for upcoming shows.

Throughout the building, undergraduate and graduate students develop exciting interdisciplinary work through close collaboration. Expert faculty from industry and academia — whose contacts across Europe represent additional resources — mentor you in small classes and an intimate studio environment. Instructors and students from all programs gather regularly for classroom crits, offering you support from various perspectives and disciplines. Designed to nurture transcurricular methods and projects, our curriculum includes electives open to all programs, fostering further cross-disciplinary work in our contemporary atelier.
