Andrew Shurtz is a graphic designer, educator, and researcher based in New York City. He is a co-founder of the international design collective We Have Photoshop, which recently celebrated its tenth anniversary. He also co-founded Convolution, a conceptual journal dedicated to exploring the intersections of experimental criticism, poetry, art and typography. He has taught design at Parsons since 2011, and currently teaches subjects related to typography, book design, experimental publishing and contemporary graphic design theory. He has previously taught courses at Rutgers University and City College of New York and served as a visiting critic at Yale University, NYU ITP, and The University of Connecticut. He is the recipient of ten AAUP awards for book design and the Yale School of Art’s Phelps Berden Award. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana State University and his Master of Fine Arts from Yale University.
