Jeff Scher is a New York based painter and animator. He currently teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in film and animation at New York University, School of Visual Arts, and Yale. Previously he taught at Columbia University, SUNY Purchase, and Bard College. He has been awarded grants from Creative Capital, the Jerome Foundation, and the NEA. His work is found in the permanent collections of the Pompidou Centre, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Hirshhorn. From 2006–2013 his blog, The Animated Life was featured on NYTimes.com. Jeffrey has an active commercial practice creating animations for IFC, Saturday Night Live, HBO, The Sundance Channel, and Lancome, among others. He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts from Bard College.
