Sonya Sklaroff lives and works in New York City. She has had many solo shows in New York and throughout Europe and her work is included in prestigious private, corporate, and museum collections worldwide.
Her new work focuses on the relationship between abstraction and representation. She is inspired by objects and scenes that she encounters in her daily life and her travels, and either paints on location or in her studio using a stream of consciousness spontaneous layering technique.
Sklaroff has enjoyed teaching at Parsons since 1999. She graduated with a BFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design and has an MFA in painting from Parsons. Sklaroff has received numerous honors for her work and her paintings have been reviewed by The New York Times, The Washington Post, Edition Internationale du Figaro, Elle Deco, American Arts Quarterly, and American Artist Magazine. The book "Sonya Sklaroff", with a preface by celebrated author Harlan Coben, was published in 2014 by Livre D'Art.
