School of Jazz and Contemporary Music at The new school announces performance series at zinc bar

Student Trios Will Perform Every Other Monday Night, Beginning March 19, 2018 at 11:30 pm

March 19, 2018 – School of Jazz and Contemporary Music at The New School is pleased to announce a new partnership with Zinc Bar in Greenwich Village. Every other Monday night, a house band rhythm section trio of students will perform for audiences.

The first session kicks off on Monday, March 19th at 11:30 p.m., featuring the John Koozin Trio. The trio will also perform on 3/26, 4/9, and 4/23.

All of the trios who perform at Zinc Bar will be in residence for four sessions at the iconic jazz bar located at 82 West 3rd Street.

"We are thrilled to partner with Zinc Bar on this exciting initiative for our talented students, where they will have an invaluable opportunity to perform for audiences in a legendary space," says Keller Coker, Dean of School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.

"We're excited to be working with a first class music school like School of Jazz and Contemporary Music at The New School, and to provide a real-world environment where their students can strengthen their creative skills and innovative capacities in ways that are relevant to employability," says Charles Carlini, organizer of the jam sessions.

The performances are free for all New School students.
