school of drama at the new school presents cherry lane playwrights festival

School of Drama Playwrights

NEW YORK, April 10, 2019 – The School of Drama at The New School’s College of Performing Arts is thrilled to be partnering with the Cherry Lane Mentor Project again this spring for the 2019 Graduating MFA Playwrights Festival.

Cherry Lane will present public industry readings for School of Drama’s MFA Playwrights: Conlan Carter, Collin McConnell, Miles Orduna, and Mallory Weiss. These four plays were developed with support from The Lark Play Development Center, and under the guidance of industry mentors Samuel Hunter, Rajiv Joseph, Sarah Ruhl, and Charise Castro Smith.

For over a decade, graduating School of Drama MFA playwrights have been showcasing their thesis work in the New Voices Playwright Festival, and this addition of our professional partnership with Cherry Lane offers an exciting extension to this work with the new play development process.

Cherry Lane Playwrights Festival schedule:

  • Spirit Lake by Miles Orduna: Sunday, May 12th at 2pm

  • Losing You, Which is Enough by Mallory Weiss: Monday, May 13th at 2pm

  • Wyoming, MN by Conlan Carter: Tuesday, May 14th at 2pm

  • Untitled by Collin McConnell: Wednesday, May 15th at 2pm

All performances are at the Cherry Lane Studio Theater, New York City. Admission is free and reservations are recommended.
